Brexit legal recruitment friend or foe?

June 9, 2016

Those of you within the legal jobs market may have noticed a slight slowdown in the number of transactional legal vacancies at present. Believe it or not, this is not your imagination.

A number of large national and international law firms have actually put transactional legal recruitment on hold until the referendum on the 23rd June. One particular head of office of an international law firms Manchester office has cited Brexit as a reason for a number of deals in the pipeline being put on hold. He doesn’t necessarily believe the result actually matters; it is actually the uncertainty that is killing corporate deals in the current market. Post the 23rd June, when the uncertainty is over, deals can once again be structured in the most efficient way.

It is indeed a very interesting time for transactional legal recruitment within large law firms lets watch this space….
